Horst Blaser founded his firearms manufacturing company in Germany in 1957 and today it continues to produce and develop hunting rifles. It first started to develop the F3 in the late 90s, introducing it to the market in 2004. This elegant shotgun, which is both technically and ergonomically superior, has earned countless international victories.
Dionne Rogers, Director of Chris Potter Country Sports, says, "We've stocked Blaser rifles for a long time and now we have just become a stockist for their shotguns, which we are very excited about. Initially, we've decided to concentrate on the Blaser F3 Professional. It has a high-grade wood spec, barrel weights and stock weights so you can modify it to your specific requirement depending on how you want your gun to balance. No other shotgun does that. You can also order other grades of the F3 with spectacular engraving.
"The F3 Professional retails at £4,750, then there is a left-handed version available which is unique to Blaser and retails at £5,150. We are really excited about this new addition to our range and they have already received a lot of interest."
We've always loved the Perazzi range. It is a very well known brand in the shotgun market and a big part of our business - in fact we have an entire room dedicated to it. Perazzi have just announced a new model, which for them is very rare. It's the Perazzi DC (Double Caccia), which is a side-by-side drop lock based on the MX8.
"Limited numbers are going to be made," says Dionne Rogers. "We haven't been told how many yet, but it will be made in 20 and 12 bore from a standard black action grade, and up through the engravings and different grades of wood for something more elaborate. We are taking orders for them now as they are bespoke guns. The DC generally takes about 5-6 months which for a bespoke gun is really quite extraordinary and the heavily engraved ones can take up to a year."
Congratulations to Henry Arnold, who won a silver medal in the recent Pan African Games at the Valley Gun Club in Cape Town, using a Perazzi featuring a new stock. Prior to taking part in the Games, Henry travelled to the Perazzi factory in Brescia, Italy, for the bespoke stock which obviously played a part in his success.
Henry was thrilled with his win, saying, "I've been competing for around 15 years now. I use a Perazzi because it is such a fantastic product; from the way they handle to the fact that they are all handmade, you really cannot fault them."
He continues, "I've been a customer of Chris Potter Country Sports for 20 years. They have everything you need under one roof and the staff is always really helpful and on hand to offer advice. In fact, it was Dionne Rogers and Chris Potter who organised for me to visit Perazzi for my new stock prior to the competition. Although it was not my first visit to Perazzi, it was a fantastic opportunity to go over there and have my previous stock copied in just one day, which is quite remarkable, and in time for the competition. Going on to win a silver medal was the icing on the cake!"
"Henry is a good friend and customer," say Dionne Rogers, "and it is lovely to know that we played some part in his success. And if that's not enough, the gold medallist George Digweed, another friend and customer of ours, is an 18-times world Champion and also shoots a Perazzi.
"Another friend and customer of ours is Jamie Brightman, who visited the Perazzi factory for a new stock with Henry. Jamie also competed at the Pan African Games, coming fourth in the Compact Sporting - just one target off a medal. Both Henry and Jamie also shot in the team events for Compact Sporting and Fitasc Sporting, winning team gold medals in both events."
In fact, Perazzi consistently enjoys success in major competitions - for instance, winners of 11 out of 15 medals at the Beijing Olympic games 2008 competed using Perazzi guns.
